UECC Program Manager

Position Information:
The UECC/AmeriCorps grant is a partnership with AmeriCorps, UCR, the City of Riverside, and the Riverside Unified School District and funded via contributions from each partner. In coordination with the Executive Director of Educational and Community Outreach Programs, the University East-side Community Collaborative (UECC) Program Manger is responsible for planning, organizing, and administering the UECC/AmeriCorps program. Responsibilities include the hiring, training, placement and daily management of approximately 85 AmeriCorps members each year. Under the guidance of the Executive Director, the Program Manager builds relationships and works with eight schools in the Riverside Unified School District, four community centers in the City of Riverside, local and non-profit agencies, community groups and local businesses to implement various aspects and activities of the UECC/AmeriCorps Program. The Program Manager is responsible ensuring compliance with AmeriCorps polices and regulations to include the submission of required reports and documentation. In coordination with the Executive Director and the Fund Manager, the Program Manager will over see the budget process for the UECC/AmeriCorps grant.

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of related experience.

Minimum Requirements:
Strong communications (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
Strong knowledge of high school graduation and college entrance requirements
Knowledge of youth and adolescent development theory, including issues facing low-income, first generation urban youth.
Ability to establish and maintains cooperative relationships with school district administrators, school counselors, principals, teachers, and community contacts.
Strong knowledge of up-to-date information on K-12 and higher education policies and issues. Ability to assess their impact on program strategies.
Knowledge of K-12 and higher education institutions (UC, CSU, CC, etc.), admissions and financial aid requirements, and the ability to interpret policies and procedures to youth, parents, and school representatives.
Strong knowledge and experience working with educational equity programs serving a diverse student population.
Significant experience advising and supporting educationally disadvantaged students regarding postsecondary opportunities and careers.
Demonstrated cultural competency with respect to race, ethnicity, and socio-economic status.
Ability to work occasional weekends, evenings and early mornings, and to travel occasionally.


Preferred Qualifications:
Working knowledge of community outreach programs.

Knowledge of AmeriCorps programs, policies and procedures.

Skill overseeing a Federal Grant program.
