The College at Brockport
The College at Brockport, State University of New York is accepting applications for a Research Assistant. Reporting to the Director of Institutional Effectiveness, the Research Assistant will focus on the collection and interpretation of data derived from institutional research studies conducted to provide a basis for administrative decision-making. The major areas of focus in an institutional research program are administrative studies, behavioral research, planning studies, and information system creation although there may be considerable variation in the attention accorded each of these areas. An institutional research program ordinarily encompasses studies of students, faculty, staff, curriculum, enrollment, finance, and other areas of higher education in an effort to generate information such as unit costs, class size, staff workload, institutional quality, and student success.
Major Responsibilities
- Derives and maintains reporting and statistical data in support of the Office of Institutional Research and Analysis.
- Assists with the preparation of data for state and federal statutory reporting.
- Prepares information for various studies concerning the internal operations of The College.
- Utilizes programming and business intelligence tools to develop reporting solutions.
- Meets with College constituents regarding ad-hoc requests.
- Provides and conveys accurate information and data.
- Participates and attends department, divisional, and College-wide committees and events.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university.
- Minimum of one year experience with data reporting or statistical analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least three years of experience with data reporting or statistical analysis.
- Experience in a higher education environment.
- Experience with Ellucian Banner.
- Experience with business intelligence solutions (e.g., OBIEE, Tableau, etc.).
- Experience with statistical software (e.g., SAS, SPSS, etc.).
- Knowledge of survey design.
- Experience with Qualtrics.
Department Description
The Office of Institutional Research & Analysis collects, organizes, analyzes, and reports information to effectively meet the information and planning needs of a variety of stakeholders, both internal and external to the College. The Office consists of five staff members who work to ensure the Office serves as the source of official information, fulfilling reporting and analysis requirements that are traditionally the main functions of an institutional research office.
