Position Description
Designs, implements and manages an assigned program. Typical duties can include but are not limited to: Identify funding opportunities, conduct program assessments, prepare program reports, oversee and manage program marketing and communications, manage program databases, supervise program staff, plan research activities, coordinate program events, participate in strategic planning, manage program files, establish program standards and objectives, direct logistical activities to promote the success of programs, develop and implement project timelines and ensures deadlines are met, oversee program budget, ensure goals and objectives of grants are met, assists in proposal writing, comply and analyze program statistics.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Interview, hire, train, schedule and evaluate 25-30 facility services student staff.
  • Manage facility and aquatic entrance points. Investigate and remedy guest access issues.
  • Ensure front-line staff provides quality customer care at all times.
  • Creation and enforcement of facility and membership policies, ensure that all student staff consistently adhere to and enforce all UREC policies.
  • Serve as liaison between University Recreation and users. Ensure that members are appropriately informed of upcoming events, maintenance closures, facility improvements, etc.
  • Oversee all membership documents including waiver management, payroll deduction, and annual deferrals
  • Embrace the spirit of entrepreneurship ensuring sound business practices are a part of the revenue generating equation of this program.
  • Work closely with Program Manager - Facility Operations to build a cohesive student staffing model within the facilities area.
  • Develop and execute program specific assessment tools and use feedback to enhance program satisfaction.
  • Assist with semester department events. Examples include Red Raider Welcome Week, Winter Raider Welcome, NIRSA Day, Random Acts of Kindness Week, etc.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and four years of experience developing or managing programs or projects. Additional job related education may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters degree in related field.
  • Previous experience developing, promoting, and managing student-directed, student-centered programs.
  • Experience with recreation management software such as Fusion, RecTrac, Connect2, or similar programs.
  • Experience working in colligate recreation environments.
  • American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED certification and instructor's certification.
