Part Time - Head Men's Soccer Coach - FY 2024



Job Description

Direct and coordinate all activities of the Soccer staff, part and full time, in the planning, organizing, and coaching of the College of Southern Nevada Soccer team; ensure compliance by all coaches, with College, Conference, NSHE, CSN and NJCAA policies and regulations. Recruit and provide educational and athletic opportunities for students from the greater Las Vegas area and Nevada.

The position will also create an atmosphere and recruit student athletes for the program which fit the CSN and NJCAA Division I philosophy for athletics. The Head Coach will oversee and maintain field conditions, grass or synthetic turf, and sustain at acceptable levels for competition by all participants on CSN or fields that are rented by CSN. In addition to the following:
  • Plan, organize, and coaching of the College of Southern Nevada Soccer team. Team is assembled, coaches are hired and all academic and athletic requirements are put in place to ensure success of students both academically and athletically.
  • Recruit eligible student athletes from greater Las Vegas valley as well as qualified out of state students to capitalize on participant opportunities and maximize rosters.
  • All available scholarships are utilized to build a team that provides opportunities for LV/NV students incorporating selected out of state students. Roster size exceeds 20 Student Athletes each year.
  • Support fund raising responsibilities within the athletic department and be an active member of the Southern Nevada community.
  • Successful fundraisers as part of the booster club, golf tournament, corporate sponsorship and other departmental funding events.
  • Monitor academic progress of student-athletes. Students graduate on time and maintain acceptable academic progress.
  • Maintain internal areas of soccer stadium in prep for games on fields that are rented. May include painting lines and prepping for games.
  • Field is kept in excellent playing and practice condition and maintained to acceptable safety levels for events.
  • Serve as contact for scheduling of all Soccer games and outside entities for facility rentals. Coordinate schedule through proper channels in the Office of Athletics and Recreation.
  • Conference and non-conference schedules are completed and approved on a timely basis. Games and budgets are prearranged for upcoming fiscal year. Occasional rental of facility to outside groups.
  • Determine fiscal requirements and recommend budget to athletic administration.
  • Monitor, and verify expenditures of budgeted funds. Budgets are developed based upon schedule and student requirements. No spending is authorized without proper budget procedures.
  • Purchase and maintain equipment.
  • Buy required field equipment to properly maintain the field in cooperation with facilities maintenance.
  • Inspect practice and game facilities regularly for safety and aesthetic purposes.
  • Determine any safety issues at the facility so that they can be reported to the proper authorities.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Sedentary Work- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (Occasionally: activity of condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (Frequently: activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met. Requires frequent, sometimes prolonged work on a personal computer/laptop.

Additional Physical Demands

Working weekends, and evenings will be required as well as extensive travel around the Las Vegas valley and the state. Occasional out of state travel for games and recruiting purpose. Working in extreme weather conditions, including heat, wind, rain, and other outside effects. Additional physical lifting may be required to completed job assignments that exceed 10 pounds of force.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and previous college soccer coaching experience required. General knowledge of intercollegiate athletics, NCAA policies and compliance issues.
