By leading a group of academic advisors, Academic Advising Managers empower students to achieve their academic and career goals by helping them navigate academic options and requirements. Academic Advising Managers ensure that advising team members build trust-based relationships with students while interpreting information and providing clarification on procedures and academic requirements of specific programs or majors.

They serve as a liaison between academic advisors and faculty and academic leaders by identifying structural and systemic obstacles that may inhibit student success and elevating these issues to key appropriate decision makers.

In addition to providing resources and professional development to support advising staff success, Academic Advising Managers maintain extensive advising, higher education, and institutional knowledge to continually improve advising practices.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college/university; Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4 years of professional-related experience.
  • Lead or Supervisory Experience.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree from an accredited college/university; Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1 year of supervisory experience.


The ideal candidate should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Knowledge of Program coordination principles, practices, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of Program planning principles.
  • Understanding of Research methods.
  • Knowledge of Applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, regulations, codes, and/or statutes.
  • Ability to give Presentations, leveraging best principles and practices.
  • Ability to create and sustain diverse populations and cultures.
  • Computers and related software applications.
  • Knowledge of Supervisory principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of Planning, coordinating, and implementing program components and activities.
  • Analyzing processes and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Researching, analyzing, and applying relevant information to the development of departmental processes and programs.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable internal and/or external program requirements.
  • Advising students on applicable policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining confidentiality.
  • Preparing a variety of reports.
  • Troubleshooting and solving program issues.
  • Supervising employees.
  • Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, and others sufficient to exchange or convey information.


Salary information:

Administrative Faculty D - The starting salary is $74,564.
