Job Summary
The Stamps School of Art & Design invites applications for a Lecturer I position for the Fall 2019 semester (September 1 - December 31, 2019) to teach the following 3-credit studio course:

ARTDES 176 - Painting for Non-Majors

This course focuses on building knowledge of and basic skills with processes of painting in order to intelligently create imaginative engagement between the viewer and the painted surface. Through a series of paintings from observation as well as from imagination, students will investigate the potential of color, surface, mark, and form to create spaces and movement that refer to the external world as well as those that are unique to the pictorial plane. The course is organized around a rigorously structured schedule of painting (in class and out), group critiques, and discussion of exemplary works. Creative production is integrated with research into the world of contemporary art. Students explore how their own painting practices relate to contemporary painting practices, and how to conduct research about art.
