Position Summary: The primary location of this position is the main Cullowhee, NC campus.

Reporting to the University Controller, the University is seeking an organized, detail-oriented individual to lead various activities of the Financial Reporting and Regulatory Compliance unit within the University Controller's office. The individual will perform professional accounting duties involving the application of accounting theory, principles, and practices; support a variety of accounting and financial functions of the University, including general ledger accounting and reconciliation, investment pool and endowment fund accounting, federal and state tax regulation research and compliance assurance, annual and interim reporting for units and affiliates of the University, bank and cash management activities. Other duties will include assisting with the preparation of the University's annual financial report and working directly with external and internal auditors; monitoring funds for compliance with applicable accounting standards and federal and state laws and regulations; responding to inquiries of oversight agencies and benchmarking and other financial surveys. The successful candidate must be familiar with GASB, other relevant accounting standards, and tax regulations as they relate to the University and its affiliates. Must have the ability to prepare and analyze financial reports.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required for this position:

Minimum Qualifications: Masters degree in Accounting or related field and 2-4 years of experience or Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field and 3-5 years of experience.Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications: Licensed as a CPA in North CarolinaPrevious accounting experience in higher educationKnowledge of GASBExperience experience with Banner Finance
