Position Information
To hire an individual to work in the Graduate Division. The custom scope of the position is to work within the area of Graduate Student Employment, and Postdoctoral Studies, to advise and assist faculty and administrative personnel in over 50 graduate degree programs and over 3000 graduate students and 240 Postdoctoral Scholars, to resolve problems and understand the myriad of policies and procedures pertaining to graduate students and Postdocs, employment, and labor contract issues. Interpret and monitor the regulations of the Graduate Council, Riverside Division of the Academic Senate as well as the system-wide regulations of the Academic Senate and Office of the President. Interpret the articles with the UAW labor contract for both the Academic Student Employees and the Postdoctoral Scholars. This requires a thorough understanding of, student financial support (employment and fellowship support), and how they all interact with one another. Must understand how all offices dealing with graduate students and postdoctoral scholars operate, what procedures they follow, their deadlines, and regulations they consider critical. Including but not limited to International Services, the Registrar's Office, the Academic Resource Center, Human Resources, Labor Relations, Academic Personnel, Campus Health Center, Financial Aid, and the Payroll Office. Please note: The budgeted hiring range for this position is up to $78,900.


Minimum Requirements
Thorough knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
Leadership skills to provide guidance, coaching and mentoring to professional and support staff.
Strong interpersonal skills, analytical skills, service orientation, active listening, critical thinking, attention to detail, ability to multi-task in a high volume environment, organizational skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, sound judgment and decision making; ability to develop original ideas to solve problems.
Thorough knowledge of financial processes, policies and procedures.
Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
Ability to function effectively as a member of a team.
Thorough knowledge of financial data management and reporting systems.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
Strong proficiency in the use of spreadsheet and database software.


Preferred Qualifications
A detailed knowledge and understanding of University (Academic Senate and Academic Personnel) and campus policies (UCR Academic Senate and Graduate Council), procedures and processes pertaining to graduate education.

Demonstrated knowledge of SIS+, Banner, the Payroll Personnel computer system, File Maker Pro, FOCUS, Microsoft Office and the GradSIS and GradESS systems.
