Saturday: 8am-4:30-pm
Summer: Tuesday-Saturday 11:30am-8pm

Job Description:
Reports to the Associate Director of Recreation and is responsible for all aspects of programming, including instructional skating, adult hockey, adaptive ice sports, and special events. Duties include hiring staff, facilitating registration, and overseeing curriculum while monitoring and ensuring customer satisfaction. Promotes programming and special events by working with campus partners. Assists with general supervision of facility and staff while on duty as well as ice maintenance and operations.

Qualifications:
Bachelors degree, preferably in recreation, sports management or marketing, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Specific Qualifications:
Experience with ice arena programming, equipment and operations. One years experience managing personnel. Strong organizational, marketing and communication skills and the ability to interact with a diverse constituent groups.

Responsibilities:
  • Direct all instructional programs within the Syracuse University Skating School, Learn-to-Skate, adult learn-to-play, sled hockey, and freestyle/ice-dance. Hire train, schedule, evaluate, supervise and complete payroll for (30) part time program staff. Manage program curriculum and instructor compliance as required by the University and the national governing bodies. Direct the Winter Skating Exhibition including scheduling, budgeting, communicating with internal and external participants.
  • Mange program registration and daily operations. Maintain Wellness Portal as it pertains to each instructional program. Promote programming through campus partners, the University events calendar, and the Wellness Portal. Collect data relating to program participation and participant satisfaction and learning. Manage payroll and program budget accurately and within university guidelines.
  • Serve as a manager on-duty during assigned work shifts. Assist with training and supervision of student operators, pro-shop staff, and skate guards. Serve as manager on duty during select Intercollegiate and Club hockey games and manage all functions of pre-game ice prep, in game resurfacing, and coordination with Athletics staff.
  • Assist with daily and seasonal facility and ice maintenance projects including ice resurfacing.
