The Coordinator of the Office of Apprenticeship Studies reports to the Executive Director of the Division of Workforce & Economic Development (DWED) and oversees and coordinates all facets and aspects of the current and potential new trade apprenticeship programs.
  • The coordinator is the primary liaison between the DWED, the College of Southern Nevada (CSN), and the current 16 registered Joint Apprenticeship Training Committees (JATC) and provides support and guidance on all non-traditional apprenticeship matters at CSN, particularly in response to challenges impacting high-demand industry sectors.
  • The coordinator establishes and maintains strong connections with various experts in community workforce and business development, upholds excellent relationships with all the current trade partners, and makes the CSN DWED-Apprenticeship Program's presence known at community assistance and outreach programs aimed at helping the undereducated and underemployed.
  • The coordinator collaborates with the Southern Nevada Building Trade Unions (SNBTU) and the Nevada State Nevada Apprenticeship Council (NSAC) by advocating for and aiding in the application and development of new apprenticeship programs.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited college/university; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 years' experience working directly with Trades Union Apprenticeship Programs.


Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 years' administrative experience in an industrial setting and/or related profession.
  • 3 years' experience budgeting and/or grant oversight in comparable profession.


The ideal candidate should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Knowledge of:
  • Nevada Revised Statutes affecting Trade Unions, CSN, and NSHE.
  • State Apprenticeship Council (SAC), Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training (BAT) and all applicable Labor Laws regulating Registered Apprenticeships.


Ability to:
  • Academically advise large numbers of Apprentices.
  • Develop and revise substantial amounts of proprietary curriculum of various disciplines in the partnership for CSN.
  • Perform all procedures for scheduling, registration, billing, and payment proceedings for the Apprentices in each program.
  • Maintain high levels of confidentiality and trust.
  • Negotiate, communicate, and work effectively with personnel with a Labor Union and a Registered Apprenticeship Program perspective.
  • Work effectively with diverse student and employee groups.


Salary information:

Administrative Faculty C - The starting salary is $61,875.

This position is contingent upon ongoing and available funding.
