Position Information:
Under general supervision of the Financial Operations Manager (FOM), provide pre-award and post-award administration and support to Faculty, Researchers, Staff, and students within the department of Physics & Astronomy. Maintain fiscal integrity for all funds and accounts and ensure all funds are in an auditable/reportable condition. Assist with fiscal close activities. The department of Physics & Astronomy supports 43 faculty and includes 203 non-senate academics, postdocs, graduate students, and administrative staff; $20.8 million dollars per year in expenditures and $8.2M in extramural funding administered over 148 discreet fund sources. Finalists will be required to complete a Skills Assessment as part of the selection process. A pre- employment assessment will be conducted as part of the selection process.

Education:
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

Minimum of 2 years of related experience.

Minimum of 1 year of contract and grant administration experience (may be a part of the 2 years required).

Minimum Requirements:
Ability to manage a high volume of transactions.
Maintains current knowledge of compliance regulations in all areas of research administration.
Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal and reporting principles.
Demonstrated competence in the use of spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports.
Ability to perform moderately complex financial analysis and customized reporting.
Demonstrated experience with planning, analysis, and administration of multiple fund sources.
Knowledge of applicable federal, state, local, sponsor and institutional regulations, policies, and guidelines.
Ability to prepare, evaluate and assess multiple complex budgets with a high level of accuracy and acute attention to detail, and to assess those findings to make recommendations; and to solve complex problems using investigative/research and analytical skills.
Ability to maintain independent judgment; strong organization; communication skills; and a customer service focus.


Preferred Qualifications:
Skill and knowledge of UCRFS, UCRFStotals, SuperDope, HRDW, eCAF, PAMIS, PIWRS, eBuy, ePay, iTravel, and other on-line accounting and purchasing systems.

Demonstrated knowledge of the University of California's financial policies and procedures.

Experience working in an institution of higher education.

Knowledge of applicable compliance requirements related to use of human or animal subjects in research, financial conflict of interest, biosafety, etc.

Demonstrated experience in preparation and submission of contract and grant proposals.

Writing skils to draft persuasive text for variety of audiences.

knowledge of grant funding processes, procedures and techniques.
