Overview:
Under the direction of the Head Volleyball Coach, the Assistant Volleyball Coach assists in coaching NCAA Division-I women's volleyball. This position will be designated as the recruiting coordinator; video and scouting coordinator; and academic, admissions and compliance liaison.
Position Summary:
The incumbent will support the Head Volleyball Coach in the following duties:coaching practices and competitions; teaching and developing sport-specific skills; building successful team performance to bring the program to national prominence; recruiting quality student-athletes to fit the values of the program and University; enforcing written team rules, and compliance with NCAA, conference and university rules and policies; monitoring academic progress of team members; and coordinating admissions and NCAA eligibility of incoming prospects. The incumbent will also support the department's commitment to equity and diversity.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations with a positive history of rules compliance
- Coaching philosophy and teaching concepts compatible with the department and head coach's vision
- Knowledge of coaching all skills, primarily defense and passing
- Skilled in Volleymetrics, Data Volley 4, Inkscape
- Established working relationships with youth volleyball clubs and high school coaches in California
- Ability and willingness to support the department's equity commitments
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students and supporters from diverse ethnic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
- Ability to project a professional attitude
- A work history of regular attendance and positive performance evaluations
Note: The successful candidate must be immediately eligible to obtain a State of California driver's license within 60 days of accepting the job offer and must be able to comply with all university requirements pertaining to driving on state business. A background check of the candidatesdriving record will berequired.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree from an institution of higher education which is accredited by one of the six U.S. regional accrediting associations or by an equivalent international institution of higher education
- Minimum four (4) years volleyball playing experience at the NCAA Division-I level
- Minimum one (1) years of demonstrated knowledge and live, technical experience using Data Volley
- Minimum one (1) season of coaching in NCAA Division-1 level
- Experience working with student-athletes at the NCAA Division-I level
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in scouting and video analysis
- Knowledge of California State University, Fresno and the Central Valley
