An adjunct is sought to teach one three-credit African & African-American Studies undergraduate course, AAS 435 Legal Rights of the Disadvantaged in Spring 2018. The course is currently scheduled to meet Tuesdays from 6:30pm to 9:15pm.

AAS 435 Legal Rights of the Disadvantaged is a three credit course cross-listed as PLS 435 & WMS 435.
An issue-oriented course. Provides an understanding of how the US legal system can improve the status of underprivileged persons, such as blacks, Hispanics, women, prisoners, the poor, students, Native Americans, homosexuals, and those with mental and physical disabilities.

Required Qualifications:

    Either ABD or completed Ph. D in Political Science or a pertinent social science field, or a terminal law degree A record of experience appropriate to the rank of an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor Demonstrated ability to effectively teach AAS 435-Legal Rights of the Disadvantaged Demonstrated ability to effectively deal with diverse (multicultural) groups of faculty and students

Preferred Qualifications:

    Interest in community outreach Interest in the department's mission of Africa-centric scholarship and teaching Interest and ability to teach AAS 435 every semester (spring and fall) A record of interest in African people's place in the macro-opportunity structure A record of practice in the areas of Civil Rights and other rights of minorities
