Position No. 00053176. The SMU Department of Statistics and Data Science invites applications for a faculty lecturer position to begin in Fall 2024.

We seek professionals who have experience teaching statistics and data science at the college level, the willingness to develop a broad repertoire of undergraduate courses, and a commitment to inclusive teaching. The selected candidate will teach in our statistics and data science programs, coordinate instructional activities in data science, and engage in mentoring of students at all levels.

The Department of Statistics & Data Science is the academic home for research and teaching in statistics and data science at SMU. It has 13 permanent faculty members, of whom 5 are on the Professional & Teaching track. The department fosters a collegial environment that is supportive of professional growth and collaboration among faculty members of all tracks and levels.

The department offers a PhD in Statistical Science, a PhD in Biostatistics (in collaboration with UT Southwestern Medical Center), an in-person MS in Data Science and Applied Statistics, an online MS in Data Science, a BS in Statistics, and a BS in Data Science. It will begin offering a PhD in Data Science in Fall 2024. Faculty members teach and mentor students within the Statistics & Data Science programs and throughout the University.
