About the Position:
Human Resources, Diversity and Inclusion is committed to the mission of meeting the needs of a multi-cultural, diverse campus community. Our highly qualified team of professionals is focused on providing traditional human resource services and supports the University's goal to recruit and retain a high-quality and diverse faculty and staff. The department of Payroll Services is seeking an exceptional individual to join the team as an Administrative Support Coordinator I. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Under general supervision, the Administrative Support Coordinator I serves as the Payroll front desk receptionist for the entire division of Human Resources, Diversity and Inclusion as well as serving as the administrative support for Payroll management. In support of the central Payroll office operations, the Administrative Support Coordinator I performs a variety of administrative responsibilities. Provides positive, high quality, and high volume frontline public contact, responding to customers, including but not limited to faculty, staff, administrators, and student employees. Coordinates the sign-in processes for all employees, handles the student employment workflow process, coordinates I-9 Tracker including assessing and reviewing the accuracy and applicability of documents necessary to verify eligibility to work. To successfully perform the necessary responsibilities, the incumbent must keep current with and interpret and apply the applicable Federal, State, State Controller's Office (SCO), Chancellor's Office (CO), and campus laws, regulations, policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned.


Essential Qualifications:
High School diploma or the equivalent and four years of progressively responsible experience in general office, clerical or secretarial work or the equivalent. Thorough, detailed knowledge of applicable university infrastructure, policies, and procedures. Thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Thorough knowledge of office systems with the ability to use a range of technology, systems and software packages. Ability to independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects. Ability to apply a variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist. Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures. Ability to perform standard business math including calculating ratios and percentages, tracking financial data, and making simple projections. Ability to draft and compose correspondence and standard reports. Ability to handle effectively a broad range of interpersonal contacts including those at a higher level and those sensitive in nature.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.


Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a higher education environment. Demonstrated understanding of confidential and sensitive data. Ability to access PeopleSoft/CHRS campus systems or similar systems. Ability to utilize PIMS, CIRS, and File-Net Document Capture and retrieval and report manager tools.
