Position Summary
The Department of Neurosurgery at the University at Buffalo seeks a full-time Postdoctoral Associate to support an interdisciplinary research program focused on image-guided navigation for neurovascular interventions.
The successful candidate will develop and evaluate medical imaging and artificial intelligence methods for vascular mapping and navigation using computed tomography (CT) and digital subtraction angiography (DSA) data. The candidate will work closely with clinicians, engineers, and research collaborators to advance project objectives, validate methodologies, achieve project milestones, and disseminate findings through publications and presentations.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Develop image-based methods for neurovascular mapping and navigation in support of robotic neurovascular interventions.
Process and analyze computed tomography and digital subtraction angiography data to characterize vascular anatomy and potential navigation pathways.
Develop and evaluate artificial intelligence and reinforcement learning approaches for image-guided vascular navigation.
Design experiments, validation strategies, and quantitative performance measures for navigation algorithms.
Coordinate research objectives and technical requirements with clinicians, engineers, and multidisciplinary project teams.
Integrate information from medical imaging, vascular anatomy, and device behavior to support system-level navigation development.
Track progress toward defined project milestones and contribute to technical reports and project updates.
Prepare manuscripts, presentations, and other scientific materials describing research methods and findings.
Prepare materials for grant proposal submissions.
