Position Summary
The Department of Pediatrics in the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo (UB) seeks accomplished senior faculty leaders to serve as Co-Directors of the UB Institute for Autism Research (IAR) in the division of Developmental Pediatrics and Rehabilitation.

The IAR is a new interdisciplinary institute designed to position UB as a national leader in autism research, education, and clinical innovation. The Institute will unify regional strengths in evidence-based autism intervention research, diagnostic and developmental care, and family-centered programming into a collaborative hub located on UB's South Campus. The Directors will provide strategic and scientific leadership for a large-scale, externally funded autism research enterprise, with a focus on scalable, community-embedded interventions, implementation science, and clinical-to-community translation.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Serve as Director and senior scientific leader for the UB Institute for Autism Research, building a nationally visible research institute integrating research, clinical innovation, and community partnerships
  • Establish and execute the Institute's strategic plan, governance structure, and operational model in collaboration with departmental chairs, clinical partners, and university leadership.
  • Lead development of Institute infrastructure, including research coordination workflows, clinical integration pathways, data systems, and programming operations.
  • Build and lead a robust extramural funding portfolio, including NIH multi-PI R01/U01/P01 mechanisms, training grants, HRSA/MCHB awards, PCORI, and foundation.
  • Provide scientific direction to an interdisciplinary research portfolio spanning early intervention, child/adolescent programming, dissemination science, and translational neurodevelopmental research.

About the Department
The Department of Pediatrics is composed of 18 divisions, all actively engaged in research and dedicated to excellence in patient care and teaching. Clinical activities are based at Golisano Children's Hospital, the regional center for comprehensive and state-of-the-art pediatric trauma, surgical and medical care, including neonatal, perinatal and obstetrical services. As one of the 43 freestanding children's hospitals in the nation, and the only one in New York State, the entire facility was built with children and families in mind. The 12 floor 200-bed modem facility is an integral part of the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus (BNMC), linking with Buffalo General Medical Center, Gates Vascular Institute, Roswell Park Cancer Institute, and the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo and more.
