Job Summary


The Athletics Department at CU Boulder encourages applications for the Temporary Digital Strategy Associate role! The primary responsibility of this position is to promote a positive social media presence for the CU Athletic Department through a variety of digital media platforms. Responsible for the day-to-day management, strategy and coordination of select sports on all social media channels. This role in collaboration with the Director, Digital Strategy will be responsible for assistance & guidance regarding ancillary CU Athletics channels (Buff Club, Inclusive Buffs, Academics, etc.). Assist with strategy, execution, and analytics on all official social platforms. Seek innovative ways to increase storytelling opportunities, fan engagement, and brand enhancement.

This position will promote the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program. This shall include adhering to the principles of the Athletic Department's Mission Statement, Core Values, Policies and Procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the University, the Big 12 Conference and the NCAA.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be


Social Strategy and Execution

This position will assist in the development and execution of social media strategies across multiple platforms, including Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, with a focus on growing engagement, fan interaction, and storytelling.
  • Day-to-day management and in-game posting of digital communications across select social media team accounts as assigned.
  • Develop and maintain a 365-day social media content calendar for assigned sports.
  • Collaborate with Athletic Communications, creative, Buff Vision, marketing, Buff Club and other departments as needed to develop creative and engaging content supporting CU Athletics programs and strategic plan objectives.
  • Work internally with departments on select ancillary social media channels on varying levels to ensure overall scope and brand of the athletic department is well represented.
  • Assist in reporting on analytics of all social media channels. Assist in the execution of sponsored content in collaboration with Buffalo Sports Properties.

Content Creation
  • Assist with social media-first content for select sports as assigned (vertical content).
  • Capture and edit photos at games, practices and events as needed.
  • Brainstorm and collaborate with the creative team to coordinate delivering content that will improve the Colorado Buffaloes brand among fans, donors, students, potential student-athletes and other key partners.

NIL Strategy & Student-Athlete Social Media Education
  • Apply tools like INFLCR to ensure photos, graphics and more are available for student - athletes to share on their personal social media accounts.
  • Assist Digital Strategy team with personal and professional brand education and social media standard processes for coaches, staff and student-athletes.

This is a full-time, temporary role that will work during standard business hours and will require evening and weekend hours to support team needs.


What We Can Offer


$18.90/hr.

What We Require

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, communications or other applicable area of study.
  • 1 years of experience running social media platforms for an official brand or sports team. Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.


What You Will Need

  • Strong understanding of social media trends & social media tools including X (Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok.
  • Ability to develop and maintain social content calendars and communicate/collaborate with cross functional groups to complete responsibilities.
  • Ability to edit photo and videos, clip highlights for variety of platforms.
  • Skills and experience in social media management for a sports organization.
  • Multitasking and prioritizing assignments is a crucial skill for this position.
