Position Description
Designs, implements and manages an assigned program. Typical duties can include but are not limited to: Identify funding opportunities, conduct program assessments, prepare program reports, oversee and manage program marketing and communications, manage program databases, supervise program staff, plan research activities, coordinate program events, participate in strategic planning, manage program files, establish program standards and objectives, direct logistical activities to promote the success of programs, develop and implement project timelines and ensures deadlines are met, oversee program budget, ensure goals and objectives of grants are met, assists in proposal writing, comply and analyze program statistics.

About the Department and/or College
Military & Veteran Programs, MVP, was created in 2010 as a department solely dedicated to helping veterans, active-duty service members, and their families succeed. Texas Tech University is home to about 3,000 military-connected students and employs over 250 faculty and staff who have served in the armed forces. MVP honors their service, understands their unique journey, and empowers them to achieve academic, personal, and professional success by connecting them with resources both on campus and in the community.
Major/Essential Functions
- Design, implement, and oversee the MVP Peer-to-Peer (C.A.R.E.S.) Program to support the academic, personal, and professional success of military-connected students.
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate student peer mentors and ambassadors while fostering leadership development and professional growth.
- Develop and coordinate monthly student engagement activities, career development workshops, networking opportunities, and community-building events that promote student connectedness and success.
- Connect military-connected students with appropriate campus and community resources through individualized referrals and proactive outreach.
- Build collaborative partnerships with university departments, student organizations, and external agencies to enhance support services for military connected students.
- Participate in the continual development and enhancement of Military & Veteran Programs initiatives andservices.
- Support and promote Green Zone Military Culture Awareness training and other educational initiatives that increase campus understanding of military-connected students.
- Maintain proficiency in applicable federal, state, university, and veterans' education laws, regulations, policies, and best practices.
- Develop and implement program assessment strategies using qualitative and quantitative data to evaluate program effectiveness, student engagement, retention, and learning outcomes.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and annual assessments demonstrating program impact and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Manage the C.A.R.E.S. marketing initiatives, communications, and promotional materials.
- Represent Military & Veteran Programs at university events, orientations, outreach activities, and community functions.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of the mission of Military & Veteran Programs.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and four years of experience developing or managing programs or projects. Additional job related experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Higher Education, or 4 years in related field. (Degree in Student Affairs, Counseling, Education, Public Administration, or a related field preferred.)
- Experience developing or managing peer mentors, ambassador, student leadership, or student success programs within higher education.
- Experience working with military-connected students, veterans, or military family populations.
- Knowledge of holistic wellness frameworks, case management principles, and campus/community referral processes.
- Experience planning educational programming, workshops, and student engagement initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience with assessment, data analysis, and program evaluation.
- Green Zone Military Culture Awareness certification or demonstrated knowledge of military culture.
- Experience managing higher education grants, marketing, and event planning.
Pay Range
$44,500 - $57,900 - $71,200
