This position is responsible for the accounting functions of the Student Accounts department, as well as the troubleshooting, testing, reporting, security and ongoing support of Student Accounts ERP systems.
Primary Duties:
Accounting and Reconciliations
- Balance the Accounts Receivable system to General Ledger on a daily basis.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations of student billing clearing accounts.
- Assist with the reconciliation of third-party sponsored scholarship accounts.
- Reconcile Direct Loan accounts between Financial Aid, Student Accounts, and Finance.
- Monitor the aging of accounts receivable.
- Manage the annual write-off process.
- Prepare the Summer tuition and housing deferral calculation and related journal entries.
- Close the loan funds at fiscal year-end and prepare supporting workpapers for the annual financial statements
Compliance and Program Support
- Process and reconcile Chapter 33 VA educational benefits on student accounts.
- Prepare monthly collection reports.
- Complete the annual FISAP and Nursing Loan Program reports accurately and timely.
- Assist with the annual financial audit related to Student Accounts.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, university, and program requirements related to student receivables and loan programs.
Systems Administration and Support
- Perform/troubleshoot system configuration, testing, upgrades, and process improvements for Student Accounts systems.
- Maintain system security roles and access.
- Create, maintain, and manage operational and financial reports for the Student Accounts Office.
- Maintain and update the Student Accounts website.
- Assist with the creation, maintenance, and updating of training materials and support documentation.
Other
- Assists on billing hotline as needed
- Perform other duties as required / assigned by leadership.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
- Experience working in higher education or a similar complex organizational environment.
- Experience with financial system testing or business process configuration.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and external partners.
- Demonstrated commitment to providing exceptional customer service and responding professionally to student account inquiries.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and resolve issues in a professional, timely, and service-oriented manner.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as a member of a collaborative team.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Experience with Workday Student or other higher education billing systems.
- Experience with student accounts receivable, loan accounting, financial reporting, or reconciliations.
- Experience developing financial reports and utilizing reporting tools.
Working Conditions:
- Normal office environment. Some travel may be required.
Salary & Benefits: Salary Range $55,000-$75,000; commensurate with experience
