Job Summary:
The Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering (CSEE) in the College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics at Eastern Washington University invites applications for a lecturer position in Cybersecurity to begin September 2026.

The department of CSEE offers academic programs leading to bachelors degrees in computer science, cyber operations and electrical engineering, and masters degrees in computer science and cybersecurity.

The Cybersecurity program has seven faculty members and approximately 150 undergraduate and 10 master students. The department resides in the Catalyst Building located in downtown Spokanes University District. This facility is a public-private partnership with the regional tech industry to create a high-tech hub for innovation and entrepreneurship. It offers our students and faculty outstanding opportunities for collaboration with regional industry and other universities. Classes are taught both in the Catalyst Building and in the main EWU campus in Cheney.

This lecturer position will teach both beginning undergraduate courses in both Computer Science and Cybersecurity. The assigned courses will most likely include, but not be restricted to CS1 in Java, CS2 in Java, C & Unix Programming, and Cybersecurity Fundamentals.

The salary for this position is $79,949. In addition to salary, the university offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, life and disability insurance and retirement. Required Qualifications:
  • MS in Computer Science or Cybersecurity or closely related field.
  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching, as instructor of record, of undergraduate lower division Computer Science coursework.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the diverse needs, including universal access, of our students, faculty, staff and the public.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • College-level teaching experience with good student evaluations.

Job Duties:
Typical Workload for this position will involve 45 credits per academic year, subject to departmental need. Workload will be established upon hire.
All faculty are expected to:

  • Engage in effective teaching and assessment of student learning;
  • Meet all scheduled classes;
  • Plan, organize and inform students of the course content, texts, readings, assignments, attendance regulations and methods of evaluation including grading scales;
  • Schedule and attend office hours;
  • Turn in grades according to established deadlines.

Conditions of Employment:
  • This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value, as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16.
