PS Study Coordinator

Job Summary

Our research team led by Dr. Yelena Wu at Huntsman Cancer Institute is hiring a full-time Study Coordinator to join our highly collaborative and energetic group. The Study Coordinator will support our Clinical Research Coordinator in working on various research projects focused on skin cancer prevention, including a skin cancer preventive intervention in high schools throughout Utah and an intervention to promote sun protection in neighborhood parks. The Study Coordinator will prepare materials for study visits, communicate with high school/park staff to coordinate visit logistics, lead intervention and assessment visits, and communicate with participants to encourage study participation. The Study Coordinator will also create reports of study activities and outcomes, which will involve data cleaning and running basic descriptive statistics. Job duties will involve travel to schools and neighborhood parks throughout the state, with some overnight and weekend visits being necessary. Secondary responsibilities may include providing assistance on related projects.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions
  • Study Coordinator responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following:
  • Developing and revising study protocols to ensure clarity and participant safety.
  • Establishing trusting and collaborative relationships with school staff, students, families, and park attendees participating in research studies.
  • Preparation of materials and staff for study visits.
  • Utilizing a structured protocol to lead classroom activities for skin cancer prevention and collect survey data from students.
  • Conduct on-site sun protection observations in neighborhood parks and administer surveys to park attendees.
  • Documenting activities and outcomes in appropriate databases
  • Compiling reports summarizing study progress.
  • Attending team meetings to discuss progress, successes, and challenges
  • Participating in ongoing training to maintain fidelity to protocols and other research required training.
  • Prepare and submit IRB documents.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Problem SolvingIncumbents are responsible for coordinating the daily operations of their assigned research team, coordinating the orderly and safe flow of the research project and maintaining adequate resources for the PI to accomplish their research objectives.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required. IRB CITI Course in the Protection of Human Research subjects certificate obtained within six months of hire and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.
  • Some departments may require IATA DGR training within six months.
  • This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated vaccination requirements, or be approved for an exemption, prior to the first day of work. We protect our patients, coworkers and community by requiring all patient-sensitive employees to be immunized according to CDC standards and hospital policy. Limited exemptions may be made for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that object to vaccinations.
