Major/Essential Functions
  • Responsible for providing guidance and advice to students on their degree plans pertaining to Chemical Engineering and Biological Systems Engineering majors. Hold face-to-face meetings with students to ensure they understand which courses need to be taken to ensure academic progress and timely graduation.
  • Determine appropriate education solutions for students in the department utilizing all appropriate systems including, but not limited to, Degree Works, Banner, Cognos, Registrars Portal, Transfer equivalency tool and Raider Success Hub.
  • Participate in, plan, or implement events and activities that support recruiting, student enrollment, retention and engagement, and commencement. These events include Daily Campus Visits, Regional Events, Select Tech, Connect Tech, Resource Fairs, Transfer events, Red Raider Orientation, EOC Student Service Events, Retention workshops, Commencement events.
  • Plan and conduct outreach activities with local school districts to support recruitment for both Chemical Engineering and Biological Systems Engineering programs.
  • Utilize reporting systems and applications such as Cognos, Raider Success Hub, Excel, and Banner to generate and analyze reports for student performance and recruiting trends for the department or college.
  • Coordinate with external academic offices, other department advisors, Student Success Specialists, and EOC personnel to proactively seek solutions to student questions and concerns, connect students with appropriate academic and non-academic resources, participate in weekly staff meetings, and respond to email communication.
  • Work with the associate department chair on class schedules, teaching assignments, scholarships, course substitutions and online course approvals, internship and research experiences, and other academic issues where faculty advisor input is needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; one year related experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in academic advising, student services, or higher education administration.

Pay Range
$16.39 - $21.30 - $26.25
