Job Summary
The Center for Technology Workforce Innovation (CTWI) welcomes applications for the STEM Curriculum and Content Creator! This position designs professional development curriculum and materials for several national STEM initiatives including content for workshops, e-learning modules, and resources that empower STEM educators, school counselors, and others to integrate Engineering, Computer Science, and EdTech Advising into the core student experiences and inspire the next generation of technologists.

Who We Are
The CTWI is a coalition of more than 1,600 corporations, universities, and non-profits working to increase participation in the technology ecosystem through innovative programs and research. It is prominent on the national computing landscape and has raised over $28 million in NSF grants, as well as considerable corporate gifts. The CTWI organization is part of the College of Engineering & Applied Science at the University of Colorado-Boulder. It spans both university staffing, financial and legal procedures, and in addition, receives funding from a non-profit 501(c)(3), to implement financial, legal, and governance procedures on its behalf.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Instructional Design:
- Curriculum Mapping: Develop comprehensive scope-and-sequence documents that align STEM activities with national standards (e.g., NGSS, STEL, CSTA, Common Core, ASCA, Career Readiness).
- Andragogical Excellence: Design learner-centered experiences specifically tailored for adult learners (educators/counselors), ensuring high retention and immediate classroom applicability.
- Learning Architecture: Create blueprints for multi-modal learning paths that include synchronous workshops and asynchronous digital journeys.
Content Creation:
- Multimedia Production: Draft engaging, conversational scripts for educational videos and "explainer" content that simplify complex Engineering/CS topics.
- High-Stakes Presentations: Create compelling and interactive slide decks for national conferences and high-profile professional development opportunities.
- Digital Course Building & Maintenance: Use authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Rise) to build interactive, accessible e-learning modules and revise as needed based on evaluation feedback and technology changes.
- Iterative Development: Analyze user feedback and evaluation data to perform "curriculum maintenance," ensuring materials stay current with rapid technological shifts.
- Innovation Pipeline: Lead "think-tank" sessions to identify emerging STEM trends (e.g., AI ethics, sustainable engineering) for future resource development.
Partner Collaboration:
- SME Integration: Act as a "translator" between technical Subject Matter Experts (engineers, researchers) and practitioners (K-12 teachers, counselors) to ensure content is both thorough and reachable.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner with the Communications and Program teams to ensure consistency across all platforms.
- External Relations: Facilitate focus groups or other communication channels with educators to pilot new materials and capture insights.
Other:
- Undertake other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Stay apprised and current on relevant University and State of Colorado policies and procedures.
- Participate in professional development activities and serve on unit, college or campus committees as applicable.
What You Should Know
- This position will work standard business hours with flexibility. The position may be eligible for a hybrid work modality, consistent with the College of Engineering and Applied Science Hybrid Work Policy.
- Candidate must have a willingness and ability to travel.
What We Can Offer
The salary range for this position will be $68,000 - $75,000 annually.

What We Require
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years in curriculum development, instructional design, or K-12 STEM education.
- Experience in providing educator professional development in Computing or Engineering fields.
- Proven ability to explain complex technical topics to non-technical audiences (specifically educators and counselors).
What You Will Need
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Familiarity with building content in a Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including strong grammar and writing/editing skills.
- Creative problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in project management with the ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to learn technical skills quickly.
- Diligent and able to strategically optimize datasets.
- A proven ability to work proactively and independently, as well as on a team.
- Desire to work in a collaborative team environment in an academic setting.
- Sensitivity to, and appreciation of, cultural, political and geographical differences-with ability to work well with faculty, staff and students from around the world.
