About the Department/School/Area
The Texas Success Initiative (TSI) is a developmental education program mandated by the state of Texas to provide additional support to students who have not demonstrated college-readiness in reading, writing, and mathematics. The TSI Skills and Development Office at Texas Tech University provides customized plans for student development and developmental coursework in these key areas to ensure each student will be successful in their selected academic majors and beyond.
Major/Essential Functions
- Coordinate with Senior Lecturer to plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction for Developmental Math.
- Prepare and deliver lectures to undergraduate or graduate students on topics as required by the Texas College and Career Readiness Standards for Math.
- Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions and prepare and administer course materials as required by university and departmental guidelines.
- Maintain student records as required by university and departmental guidelines including, but not limited to, attendance records, grades, and student conduct records.
- Keep abreast of developments and technological advances in the field of developmental literacy by reading current literature, collaborating with colleagues, and participating in professional development opportunities.
Faculty Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Math or Science. Demonstrated record of effectiveness as a teacher.
