As Director of the Business Resource Center, you will expand UVU's impact by cultivating relationships, securing resources, and delivering programs that accelerate innovation, business formation, and economic value across the region. The position blends strategic vision with hands-on community engagement, allowing the Director to shape the future of entrepreneurship support at UVU while contributing to long-term economic vitality.
Summary of Responsibilities
- Build and maintain relationships with business leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, and economic development partners across the region. Convene meetings, events, and networking opportunities that strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem and promote BRC programs. Cultivate strategic partnerships with local governments, industry leaders, and community organizations. Identify and secure funding through grants, sponsorships, donations, and other fundraising efforts to expand BRC programs and initiatives. Represent Utah Valley University and the BRC on regional committees, advisory boards, and economic development initiatives.
- Engage directly with business leaders, entrepreneurs, and startups to understand emerging needs and opportunities within the regional economy. Design and implement programs, workshops, and initiatives that support entrepreneurs and small businesses. Collaborate with the Baugh Entrepreneurship Institute to create educational and experiential learning opportunities that connect students with the business community.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Business Resource Center, including management of staff, tenant relations, lease agreements, and tenant recruitment. Identify and attract high-value tenants that strengthen the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem within the facility. Ensure efficient facility operations, coordinate building maintenance and improvements with university departments, and maintain a collaborative and productive environment for entrepreneurs and partner agencies.
- Lead efforts to promote BRC programs, resources, and tenant agencies to entrepreneurs and the broader business community. Develop strategies to increase awareness, participation, and impact of BRC initiatives. Work with university marketing resources and community partners to expand prHiogram visibility and scale participation across the region.
- Manage existing grants and funding sources that support BRC programming and operations. Prepare grant applications, renewals, and required reporting. Identify and pursue new funding opportunities to expand the reach and long-term sustainability of the BRC.
- Track and report key performance metrics related to business growth, job creation, capital raised, and other indicators of regional economic impact. Communicate outcomes to university leadership, partners, funders, and community stakeholders to demonstrate the value and impact of BRC initiatives. Perform additional administrative and job-related duties as needed in support of the mission and strategic goals of the Baugh Entrepreneurship Institute and Utah Valley University.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degree in a related discipline plus three years of staff level experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling seven years.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in government and private industry preferred.
