Position Description
This is a full-time staff position for providing behavioral health screening, psychoeducation, and brief intervention services for addressing the behavioral health needs of pediatric patients and their families at the University Medical Center Children's hospital. This position was designed for the purpose of behavioral health service expansion across multiple units in the hospital (i.e., Pediatric ICU, Pediatrics, Neonatal ICU, Family Care Unit), as part of a larger Integrated Behavioral Health Initiative.


Major/Essential Functions
The Department of Community, Family, and Addiction Sciences in the College of Health and Human Sciences (CHHS) at Texas Tech University invites applicants to apply for the part-time, Clinical Associate for Pediatric Behavioral Health, position. We welcome all applicants with demonstrated effectiveness as associate-level behavioral health clinicians, who possess clinical experience in relational-systemic intervention.

The ideal candidate is versed in a bio-psycho-social-spiritual (BPSS) framework of behavioral healthcare and has received graduate-level coursework and/or continuing education related to trauma-informed care, chronic illness, grief and loss, and brief/solution-focused approaches. Experience with the delivery of individual and family therapy with a pediatric population is preferred, including face-to-face and tele-delivery formats.

In line with TTU's strategic priorities to engage and empower a diverse student body and transform lives and communities through outreach and engaged scholarship, applicants should have experience working with diverse clinical populations, and specifically possess child-focused behavioral health experience.

The primary duty within this position is to provide behavioral health screening, psychoeducation, and brief intervention to individuals, couples, and families receiving hospital-based care and for the delivery of child-focused outpatient psychotherapy (utilizing a systemic approaches). Duties will also include documentation of all behavioral health encounters, enrolling eligible families for grant-funded services, and referring them to the Children's Behavioral Health Clinic (CBHC) for continuity of care.

Secondary responsibilities will include making follow-up phone/tele or face-to-face contacts for the purpose of re-assessment of behavioral health concerns with families previously screened for psychosocial risks and behavioral health concerns during hospitalization. Third, the development of support groups for specific health-related populations will be developed and implemented within this position; which may include programming for pediatric cancer, and bereavement-focused support for peri-natal or neonatal loss and other chronic or terminal illnesses.

Finally, this position will require a combination of daytime, afternoon, and evening availability; including periodic weekend coverage which will be shared, on a rotating basis, across behavioral health team members each month. Attendance at regular team staff meetings and larger interdisciplinary meetings will be expected. However, travel is not required.

Required Qualifications
  • Earned master's degree in couple/marriage and family therapy at time of appointment.
  • Evidence of state licensure eligibility as an LMFT-A or equivalent.
  • Experience with tele-delivery of psychotherapeutic services.
  • Possess clinical coursework/continuing education focused on chronic/terminal illness/trauma/grief/loss.
  • Experience with charting within an electronic medical record platform.

  • Experience with tele-delivery of psychotherapeutic services
  • Experience with charting within an electronic medical record platform
  • Experience delivering psychotherapeutic intervention with relational and family constellations; including children of all ages.
  • Experience with documentation of clinical activities for grant reporting metrics.
  • Ability to communicate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to provide clinical services in Spanish.

$53,900 - $70,100 - $86,200
