OPS Content Accessibility Support Specialist
Job Summary
The OPS Content Accessibility Support Specialist assists with the creation, remediation, and evaluation of electronic documents and multimedia to ensure compliance with accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.1, and ADA Title II. This position supports faculty and staff to help make instructional materials ADA Title II compliant by reviewing course content and providing consultation, training and hands-on remediation services and assistance, while applying and learning best practices in digital accessibility.
Job Description
Typical duties include, but not limited to:
- Review online course materials to check for accessibility and usability issues.
- Remediate documents and multimedia to meet accessibility standards.
- Assist faculty and staff with making documents, presentations, and videos ADA Title II compliant (for example, adding alt text, headings, or captions; using MathML or Word equations in the conversion of handwritten lecture notes).
- Support the instructional design team by updating or remediating course content in Canvas or other platforms.
- Help organize and assist with file remediation workshops and webinars for faculty and staff.
- Maintain documentation and tracking of remediation requests and completed work.
- Contribute to the creation of easy-to-follow training guides and resources on accessibility topics.
- Learn about accessibility standards (such as WCAG and Section 508) and new tools to improve course design.
- Suggest simple, practical ways to make learning materials more user-friendly and accessible.
Other duties:

Additional Job Description
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with common software
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn new tools and processes
- Experience in digital accessibility and/or document remediation
- Ability to explain accessibility practices clearly
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 Level AA, ADA Title II, and Section 508.
- Experience assisting with online courses or educational materials.
- Familiarity with accessibility features in Word, PowerPoint, or Adobe Acrobat.Familiarity with STEM specific accessibility technology (for example, MathML or LaTeX)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Basic knowledge of computers, common software applications, and online content (e.g., Microsoft Office, Canvas, or other learning platforms).
- Familiarity with accessibility evaluation tools and assistive technologies (for example, Microsoft Accessibility Checker, Adobe Acrobat Pro, etc,).
- Knowledge of the purpose of digital accessibility and an interest in learning accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG 2.1 Level AA, Section 508).
- Strong attention to detail when reviewing documents, videos, and online content.
- Good written and verbal communication skills and an ability to communicate with faculty, staff, and students in a clear and appropriate manner.
- Ability to adapt to new tools, accessibility practices, or instructional technologies as they evolve.
- Ability to follow established guidelines and procedures for reviewing and updating course materials.
