Position Description
Performs highly skilled mechanical and/or analytical duties in the coordination and completion of projects. Work is performed under general guidelines using established procedures and evaluated on results obtained. May supervise skilled and semi-skilled subordinates. Adherence to robust safety practices and compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations are responsibilities of all employees.

Major/Essential Functions

Utilizes proper safety techniques and equipment to prevent personal injury and property damage by attending safety meetings, setting a good personal example, and by personal observation.
Keep an ongoing inventory of chemicals (in stock & amount used) in storage by estimating amount of chemicals needed and ordering as necessary. Also keeping storage clean and orderly.
Operate all trucks, tractors with attachments, equipment and tools used by the Grounds Maintenance department.
Identify and control noxious plant, insect and disease species using chemical, cultural and integrated Pest Management techniques.
Mix and apply pesticides per label instructions, utilizing mechanical devices such as tractor-operated spreaders, 300-gallon hydraulic sprayers, bank tank sprayers and other equipment as needed.
Spray for pests, structural fumigation, commodity fumigation, weeds, lawns and ornamentals as a licensed non-commercial pesticide applicator, licensed by the Structural Pest Control Board/ Texas Department of Agriculture.

Required Qualifications
High school or equivalent and five years experience. Additional job related education may substitute for required experience on a year for year basis. Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable to operate motor vehicles.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in related field.
