Research Coordinator

About the Opportunity

The Speech Motor Impairment and Learning (SMILe) Lab at Northeastern University, directed by Dr. Kristen Allison, seeks a motivated and highly capable individual to serve as a full-time research coordinator. This position is a minimum of a one-year commitment, with reappointment possible based on performance and funding. The mission of the SMILe Lab's research is to improve assessment and treatment of motor speech disorders in children. The research coordinator will work directly with Dr. Allison to oversee execution of various research tasks as part of a new multi-site research study focused on validation of a clinical tool for improving diagnosis of pediatric motor speech disorders. Research tasks include: recruitment and scheduling of participants, developing documentation of research protocols, running data collection sessions in the lab and at off-campus sites (e.g., preschools, homes), data management and database maintenance, assisting with analysis of speech data, managing workflow in the lab, and coordination with other project sites. The project coordinator will have opportunities to work with undergraduate and graduate students in the lab, and to collaborate on publications and presentations.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in communication sciences and disorders, psychology, neuroscience, cognitive science, or a related field is required. A Master's degree (MA/MS) is desirable but not required.
  • Experience with human subjects research is preferred.
  • Strong computer and organizational skills are essential. High attention to details, excellent interpersonal skills, and a capacity to work independently & with others in a complex, demanding, and exciting research environment are necessary.
  • Must enjoy interacting with young children and be comfortable communicating with families.

Expected Hiring Range:
$47,890.00 - $65,848.75

With the pay range(s) shown above, the starting salary will depend on several factors, which may include your education, experience, location, knowledge and expertise, and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees already in the role. Salary ranges are reviewed regularly and are subject to change.
