About the Position

The Assistant Vice Chancellor serves as a key leader in the division, supervising the Director of the Office of Flagship Communities and leading K-8 partnerships/outreach. The position is responsible for divisional professional development and managing certain special projects to completion and helping the Vice Chancellor and his senior team to function as efficiently as possible. The Assistant Vice Chancellor will also lead efforts to build relationships and partnership with our K-8 partners statewide, working with UT Institute of Agriculture and UT Extension on pre-collegiate programming and operationalizing the division's vision by leading committees and workgroups, coordinating specific cross-functional projects and initiatives, and project management. Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Serves as a member of the Vice Chancellor's Senior Leadership Team, working closely with the Vice Chancellor and other senior administrators to support the division's institutional responsibilities and priorities.
  • Provides high level executive support to the Vice Chancellor.
  • Oversees the Office of Flagship Communities, Special Projects, and Professional Development.
  • Owns, manages, and completes special projects for the Vice Chancellor/division as needed.
  • Build, foster and sustain strong relationships and long-term partnerships among K-8 leaders, higher education partners, and business and community organizations.
  • Represent the university in regional and statewide forums related to educational attainment, college access, and outreach.
  • Monitor program outcomes and implement data-informed continuous improvement strategies to strengthen outreach and pipeline efforts.
  • Create and oversee pre-college and pipeline programs that prepare students for higher education. Ensure programs are relevant and effective in meeting access goals.
  • Analyze program data and institutional enrollment trends to assess impact and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain systems to track student progress, program participation, student outcomes, and long-term success.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree required; terminal degree strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 6 - 8 years of progressively related experience preferably in a highly complex higher education setting.
  • Experience in admissions, enrollment management and pre-collegiate programs.
  • Demonstrated success leading strategic education initiatives.
  • Experience using data to drive decision-making and improve program outcomes.
  • Record of building strong, collaborative relationships across the organization and effective communication that successfully supports and advances issues that impact students.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Terminal Degree and 10 years of experience in a higher education setting.
  • Significant experience with admissions, enrollment management and pre-collegiate programs; employed experiences in student affairs.
  • Leadership experience in higher education or large-scale community initiatives.
  • Background in grant writing and securing external funding.
  • Familiarity with federal and state education policy.
  • Experience working with senior level higher education administrators and senior level K-8 administrators

  • Ability to multi-task and problem-solve.

  • Leadership knowledge gained from other external higher educational institutions.
  • Ability to employ experiences in student affairs.
  • Knowledge of UT policies and procedures and the ability to apply that knowledge to job.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Salary is Market Range 15. The salary for this position is commensurate with experience and other qualifications and is accompanied by a standard university benefits package. This is an exempt, 12-month, full-time, non-tenure track staff position.
