Overview:

The Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences at Boston University is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Business Administrator to oversee key administrative and financial functions supporting our academic and research mission. This critical role manages funding and HR operations for the Department, the Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders (CARD), and the Psychological Services Center.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage all unrestricted and non-federal restricted funding for PBS, including departmental funds and those supporting CARD.
  • Oversee HR operations for the Department, CARD, and the Psychological Services Center, including hiring processes, onboarding, and records management.
  • Coordinate all graduate student funding, including Teaching Fellowships, Research Assistantships tied to grants, and federal scholarships/stipends.
  • Serve as the department's payroll coordinator and timekeeper, ensuring accurate and timely submission and approval of non-exempt employees' hours.
  • Act as a liaison between department faculty/staff and central administrative offices, ensuring compliance with university policies and procedures.

Required Skills

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant administrative, HR, or financial management experience, preferably in an academic or research setting.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Familiarity with university financial systems and HR/payroll platforms is a plus.
