Position Description
Designs, implements and manages an assigned program. Typical duties can include but are not limited to: Identify funding opportunities, conduct program assessments, prepare program reports, oversee and manage program marketing and communications, manage program databases, supervise program staff, plan research activities, coordinate program events, participate in strategic planning, manage program files, establish program standards and objectives, direct logistical activities to promote the success of programs, develop and implement project timelines and ensures deadlines are met, oversee program budget, ensure goals and objectives of grants are met, assists in proposal writing, comply and analyze program statistics.
Major/Essential Functions
- Ability to perform all physical aspects of the Program Manager of Special Events job requirements, including but not limited to set up and taking down tables and chairs for events as needed; bending, lifting, walking and carrying up to 50 lbs.
- Communication/calm under pressure: outgoing and enthusiastic with the ability to smoothly handle customers/vendors/talent and any issues that may arise.
- Maintain the Law School's Master Calendar. Track and update events at the law school including receptions in connection with Admission Recruitment and Development activities.
- Manage and assist on-site production and clean up for events, as well as close out all events as required.
- Coordinate daily law school announcements through Tech Law Announce. Update the Tech Law Announce twice a day.
- Responsible for planning and implementing events such as new-student orientation, honors and awards ceremony, and hooding ceremonies.
- Assure that all aspects of planning events are implemented with the utmost eye for detail including venue selection, execution, scripts, award and hooding ceremony participants, plaques, floral arrangements, follow up thank you notes and acknowledgements.
- Responsible for coordinating the bar associations in connection with co-sponsored Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programs.
- Work with the State Bar of Texas in connection with the Dean's Office and faculty members on the planning and execution of CLE programs including the American Inn of Court monthly meetings.
- Responsible for Friends & Family Weekend.
- Orientation for incoming 1L law students held annually.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and four years of experience developing or managing programs or projects. Additional job related experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

- Outstanding writing and communication skills.
- Experience in planning events.
- Confidentiality, good judgment, and discretion.
