Position Information
Hiring Department: KTEP

Hours: 40 hours per week, standard Monday- Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm, flexibility is required on evenings and weekends
FLSA status: Non-exempt
Earliest Start Date: As soon as possible.
Salary: $41,500.00 Annually.

The primary accountabilities are intended to describe the general content of and requirements of this position and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties. This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. A valid driver's license issued by the State where the applicant resides and insurability as defined in UTS 157 may be required to perform the position's essential functions.
Purpose of Position
The Newscaster/Producer develops and executes local and regional broadcast and non-broadcast productions such as podcasts. This position is part of the team which records and then edits audio interviews; generates interview research materials for the host; and performs a variety of other production tasks as assigned. This position is editorial and production oriented, but it also includes a number of small but essential administrative tasks as archiving materials and posting stories on the station website.
This is a hands-on position that includes producing and production responsibilities for a variety of programs and platforms with an emphasis on podcasting. The Producer will establish and assure a consistent standard of production quality, relevance, and timeliness for a range of programming, which may have an emphasis in a broad spectrum of subject matter, including arts/cultural, educational/informational, science/technology and community affairs productions.
Essential Functions
Undertakes key administrative responsibilities as well as assists in planning and producing live and/or pre-recorded radio shows which may include news, music, talk, sports, traffic, and feature productions for broadcast and on-demand platforms.
Uses various broadcasting/recording technologies such as audio consoles and digital editing/production software and microphones.
Develop content, including writing material for scripts, bulletins and links, and in some cases online content and podcasts.
Generates original ideas, identifies suitable ideas from others, and carries out thorough research to maintain editorial standards.
Researches information, obtains materials and assists with contacting and scheduling guests.
Obtains permissions or licenses for recording or broadcasting on location, and for the use of music, sound effects and audio archive material.
Works in collaboration with presenters, performers, crew members, content providers or other program contributors, to perform quality assurance to meet established production standards, rules and regulations.
Assists with archiving show files and post-production editing as directed.
Play multiple roles on your projects, possibly handling videography, audio, editing or all of the above.
Manage the logistics of getting people, resources and equipment together at the right place at the right time.
May work a radio board shift.
Willingness to work in the field, sometime for extended hours per day or even multi-days and in all kinds of weather conditions.
Participate in on-air and fundraising activities and productions, which occur periodically throughout the year.
Perform other duties that may assigned or required.
Complies with all State and University policies.
Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree.
and
Experience: Two years related experience to the statement of duties and responsibilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in media, broadcasting, or communications
