Position Summary

Founded in 2017, the Entrepreneurial Law Clinic ("ELC") prepares students for transactional law practice by providing opportunities for them to advise startup companies and socially impactful ventures in the vibrant entrepreneurship ecosystem in New York City. The ELC is part of a larger entrepreneurial law program that combines a foundational curriculum in law and entrepreneurship with educational events, a podcast, community partnerships, and other curricular programming.



The Fellowship will be designed to support attorneys interested in exploring the possibility of a clinical teaching career. The Fellow will receive valuable clinical teaching experience, exposure to clinical pedagogy, and support for professional development and scholarship.



The Fellowship will begin in January 2024 as a two-year appointment with a possible six-month extension.



Essential Functions

  • Teaches in the Entrepreneurial Law Clinic's (ELC) weekly seminar;

  • Supervises clinic students in their fieldwork;

  • Manages the ELC's community partnerships;

  • Participates in the operation and development of the ELC;

  • Manages the Entrepreneurial Law Program's activities and engages in fundraising.

Management Responsibilities

Guides work of other employees who perform essentially the same work and/or student workers. Organizes, sets priorities, schedules and reviews work, but is generally not responsible for final decisions in hiring, performance management or compensation.



Required Qualifications: Education and Experience

  • Juris Doctor degree and admission to the New York bar (or eligible to seek admission as soon as reasonably possible after committing to join us) required;

  • Three years of transactional law practice experience in at least one of the ELC's primary practice areas—business law, employment law, or intellectual property – required;




Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong interest in clinical teaching and the potential for scholarship and success as a clinical teacher.

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant experience in public interest transactional lawyering, such as representing low-income entrepreneurs or social entrepreneurs

  • Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education.




Minimum Starting Salary: $75,000



Maximum Starting Salary: $75,000



Note: Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
