Position Summary

The Refrigeration Engineer operates physical plant equipment and repairs all building systems.

Essential Functions

  • Operates and maintains HVAC central plant equipment, including chillers, absorbers, diesel generators, low-pressure boilers, and associated equipment.
  • Stands watch, performing mechanical tours of MER's
  • Monitors engineering plant and maintains required logs. Monitors pressure, temperatures, and other equipment parameters; perform preventative maintenance and repair on HVAC systems and associated equipment. Answer all general repair service calls for the campus.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintains control systems, including pneumatic, Direct Digital Control, and hybrid systems. Makes changes and monitors building management computer system.
  • Repairs and maintains other mechanical and physical plant systems, including motors, pumps, valves, steam-operated equipment, air filters, belts, and other related plant equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including general maintenance and repair campus-wide.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid and active NYC Refrigeration Engineer License Q01 and EPA CFC Certification required.
  • NYC Citywide Sprinkler and Standpipe certificates required, or must complete within six (6) months of hiring· Must be able to obtain other licenses as required
  • Minimum five (5) years in a Watch Engineer capacity with full knowledge of AC and refrigeration repair and service. Must be familiar with BMS operation as well as digital and pneumatic controls.
  • Must know how to use hand and power tools, gauges, refrigeration recovery equipment, computers, ladders, and other tools and equipment.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education.

Minimum Biweekly Salary for Internal Applicants with 3 or more years of service: 4,120.00

Maximum Biweekly Salary for Internal Applicants with 3 or more years of service: 4,120.00

Minimum Biweekly Salary for New Employees: 3,296.00
