JOB TITLE:

Assistant Supervisor, Dispatch

JOB PURPOSE:

Support the Demand Response Manager by providing leadership & administrative support for the Transit Dispatch Center which includes both paratransit & fixed route operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervision & coordination of the Transit Dispatch Center.
    • Assist the Manager in the supervision of 5-7 part-time dispatchers: contribute to performance evaluations.
  • Fill in as paratransit supervisor in the absence of the Manager
  • Assist the Manager in hiring part-time dispatchers
  • Provide training for new dispatchers and ensure that they are prepared to perform job duties on their own. Continuously monitor performance and provide any retraining as necessary.
  • Maintain documentation on the enforcement of departmental policies & procedures and any federal/state regulations.
  • Respond to and investigate complaints/incidents/accidents.
  • Provide administrative support for paratransit operations: fare reconciliation, preparing rider notices, and maintaining transit related data.
  • Act as the liaison with the dispatch software provider, manage technology tickets and ensure problems are resolved.
  • Provide excellent customer service.


SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist with supervision of other areas of Demand Response, such as SafeRide, as needed.
  • Assist with community outreach and resource fairs.
  • Optional: may require backup paratransit driving as needed.


WORK LOCATION:

On-Campus: This position provides vital support to campus customers, and the successful candidate must be available to work and perform essential job functions on campus, understanding our location is at 7,220 feet above sea level.

SCHEDULING:

Dispatch Center hours of operation:

  • Academic Year: Monday - Friday 5:45am - 7pm


Can expect 4 or 5-hour shifts. May require an occasional adjustment of schedule to meet the needs of the department.

PAY: $18.35 - $18.85/hr, depending on experience. We offer competitive periodic raises.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preference will be given to applicants who have completed Transportation Services probationary period.
  • Knowledge of ADA policies & procedures.
  • Problem Solving skills.
  • Organizational and record-keeping skills
  • Ability to remain calm in difficult or stressful situations
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience handling confidential information
  • 1 year of previous supervisory experience
  • 1 year of dispatch experience
  • Current certifications or ability to obtain within 1 month of hire:
    • TSI certification
    • First Aid/CPR certification
    • Supervisor Harassment training
