Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144.  Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

The Department of Psychological Science is a large and dynamic department in the Norman J. Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences. The Department has more than 50 full-time and many part-time faculty supporting a major and minor in psychology, including a fully online undergraduate program. In the Department of Psychological Science, our accomplished faculty guide students in the study of behavior and mental processes through a comprehensive program that promotes scientific thinking and cultivates transferable skills that lead to meaningful careers. Our psychology majors gain valuable hands-on experiences and skill-building opportunities across the curriculum by engaging in high-impact practices such as study abroad programs, internships, peer mentoring, and research experiences. Committed to rigorous scholarly activity and evidence-based teaching, we develop students as global citizens, competent interns, peer educators, skilled researchers, and confident leaders who are well-prepared for the next stages of their personal and professional journeys. Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty position as Assistant Professor of Psychology (Clinical/Counseling) in the Department of Psychological Science with a preferred start date of August 2027. This is a nine-month contracted position and is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.

• Develop and maintain a productive program of research in clinical or counseling psychology, with preference given to research addressing substance misuse and/or mental health, broadly defined (e.g., etiology, prevention, treatment/intervention, addiction).
• Publish scholarly work in peer-reviewed journals and disseminate research findings through professional presentations and other scholarly outlets. 
• Seek external funding to support research and scholarly activity.
• Teach undergraduate courses in the department's Mental Health and Well-Being Area (i.e., psychology of adjustment, health psychology, psychopathology, clinical/counseling psychology), in the candidate's area of expertise, and in alignment with departmental needs.
• Teach courses of varying modalities and class sizes, including large class sizes, on the Kennesaw and/or Marietta campuses. The standard teaching load is 9 credit hours (i.e., 3 courses) per semester; however, workload distributions are negotiable.
• Engage students in research and provide mentorship that supports their academic and professional development. 
• Contribute to departmental, college, and university service activities, including committee work and shared governance. 
• Engage in professional activities relevant to the candidate's area of expertise.
   

Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.

• An earned doctoral degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Psychology or a closely related discipline is required at the time of hire.
• Demonstrated record of research and scholarship within the discipline. 
• Experience teaching, mentoring, and/or supporting student success in higher education settings.
   

• Licensed as a psychologist or eligible for licensure in the State of Georgia, with a demonstrated commitment to obtaining licensure if not currently licensed. Doctoral degree in clinical psychology or counseling psychology.
• High priority will be given to candidates with expertise and an active research agenda in substance misuse and/or mental health, broadly defined (e.g., etiology, prevention, treatment/intervention, addiction).
• A record of publishing scholarship in reputable outlets.
• Experience applying for and potential for success in securing extramural funding.
• Experience teaching courses related to the department's Mental Health and Well-Being Area, as well as courses in research methods and/or statistics. 
• Evidence of effectiveness in teaching across various modalities (i.e., face-to-face, online, hybrid).
• Evidence of effective mentorship of undergraduate and/or graduate students.
