Position Description
Performs supervisory and participatory work in the construction, erection, installation, and repair of structures and fixtures. Responsibilities include the supervision of a work crew involved in the construction, alteration, repair, and maintenance of equipment, furnishings, and various other structures and fixtures. Duties also include the actual hands-on work in this area. Work is performed under the general supervision of the foreperson with evaluation based on results obtained. May supervise other assigned workers.

About the Department and/or College

Major/Essential Functions
1. Safety and Compliance

Conducts and oversees worksite safety inspections and ensures compliance with all applicable governmental codes, regulations, and asbestos abatement requirements.

2. Workforce Leadership, Training, and Administration

Assists the Foreperson in planning, directing, coordinating, and assigning work for the Insulation Shop in accordance with established priorities and policies, and assumes these responsibilities in the Foreperson's absence. Establishes short- and long-range shop goals, conducts shop meetings as needed, supports personnel and administrative actions, and provides ongoing formal and on-the-job training programs to improve employee proficiency and effectiveness

3. Operations, Project Planning, and Resource Management

Evaluates project requirements, prepares material requisitions, assists with project and abatement planning, and coordinates work schedules to ensure efficient operations. Maintains vehicles, tools, equipment, and materials in a safe and orderly condition, secures work areas and equipment, and provides after-hours support through overtime and emergency callback assignments as required.

4. Asbestos Abatement Oversight and Recordkeeping

Monitors and supervises asbestos abatement activities to ensure the safe and complete removal of contaminated materials in accordance with all regulatory requirements. Maintains accurate records and documentation of abatement operations and prepares plans and reports for submission to compliance and engineering groups.

5. Technical Support, Facility Assessment, and Project Development

Provides technical expertise and consultation to Engineering Services, project managers, and stakeholders. Reviews construction plans, prepares cost estimates, conducts facility inspections and studies, identifies potential issues for capital improvement projects, and prepares reports and correspondence. Ensures estimate accuracy and practical evaluations to support effective project delivery.

Required Qualifications
Proficiency in written and mathematical skills as may reflected in the completion of high school or equivalent. Two years experience as a licensed journeyperson in designated trade; or five years related experience. Job-related vocational training or education may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Must have a valid or be able to obtain and maintain a valid Asbestos abatement supervisors/Contractor license, TTU transporter, TTU asbestos contractor, and project manger license preferred.

Pay Range
$28.37 - $37.07 - $45.63
