Position Description
As an Assistant Director for Financial Aid, you will play a vital role in assisting students and their families in navigating the complex landscape of financial aid and funding options for higher education. Your primary responsibility will be to provide comprehensive guidance, support, and resources to help students achieve their educational goals without being burdened by excessive financial stress. You will serve as a knowledgeable and empathetic resource, addressing inquiries, offering personalized advice, and ensuring that students are well-informed about the various financial aid programs available to them. In addition, serving as a senior leadership member, you assist with student and family escalations while also managing a team of Advisors. This would include completing performance evaluations, training, assistance prioritizing work, reporting on progress and success and suggesting improvements for the team and its work.

About the Department and/or College


Major/Essential Functions
  • Collaborates closely with Financial Aid and Scholarship leadership, Enrollment Management, and Information Technology to advance institutional enrollment goals, enhance student access and success, and improve the delivery of financial aid services.
  • Assists the Director in developing, implementing, and evaluating financial aid policies, procedures, and operational practices to ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional requirements.
  • Serves in a leadership capacity within the office and assist with oversight of daily operations; act on behalf of the Director when designated.
  • Coordinates and supports internal and external audits, program reviews, compliance monitoring activities, and reporting requirements.
  • Oversees federal and state financial aid processing and reviews complex financial aid files to ensure the accurate determination of student eligibility.
  • Assists in the administration, certification, disbursement, and reconciliation of federal and state financial aid programs.
  • Monitors financial aid state expenditures and fund utilization to support compliance with federal, state, and institutional budget allocations.
  • Supports the overall goals, initiatives, and collaborative efforts of the Office of Student Financial Aid as needed.
  • Supports data collection, reporting, and analytics for institutional leadership, state agencies, and federal reporting requirements.
  • Participates in strategic planning initiatives, process improvement efforts, and technology enhancements to improve operational efficiency and student service.
  • Maintains current knowledge of federal and state regulations, industry best practices, and software systems supporting financial aid administration.


Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in the area of specialization or closely related field. Three years of related administrative and technical experience. Additional job related education may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with financial aid systems, specifically Banner, preferred.
  • Comfort working with data, as well as admissions and financial aid systems.
  • Supervisory experience and ability to effectively oversee staff who are expected to maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • Experience working with financial aid management systems and student information systems; Banner experience preferred.




Pay Range
$40,500 - $52,600 - $64,800
