Position Summary:
The primary location of this position is on-site in Cullowhee, NC. This position is exempt from the State of North Carolina Human Resources Act (EHRA).

The Educational Developer I will work directly with faculty and staff as part of the Coulter Faculty Commons (CFC) team to engage in initiatives and provide consultations, workshops, and events that advance teaching and learning excellence in keeping with the Universitys mission and strategic goals. This position will also provide services assigned to the Coulter Faculty Commons to advance the CFC mission and vision.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required for this position:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Interested candidates must already be legally authorized to work in the United States and will not require any immigration sponsorship or support.
  • Masters Degree from an appropriately accredited university required.
  • Previous demonstrated experience working and teaching within higher education.

Preferred Qualifications:
Doctorate or terminal degree from an accredited institution with relevant coursework preferred. A combination of coursework and experience in one or more of the following areas: instructional design, instructional technology, educational development, teaching and learning, higher education, adult education, and/or other related degree/s or coursework.

Also preferred are the following:
  • Demonstrated skill and experience with design and implementation of evidence-based instructional frameworks (e.g., backward course design, Blooms and Finks Taxonomy) in higher education for all teaching modalities (face-to-face, hybrid, and online).
  • Experience with learning management systems (LMS), preferably Canvas.
  • Enthusiasm for working collaboratively with others to explore and realize their pedagogical and scholarly goals.
  • Experience designing and facilitating workshops and programing.
  • Experience creating learning materials in a variety of formats.
  • Experience managing and administering complex projects.
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Record of continuous professional development to keep current with rapid changes in technology, including GenAI, and higher education.
