JOB TITLE:

Kitchen Coordinator-Early Care and Education Center (ECEC)

JOB PURPOSE:

The purpose of this position is to manage the daily food service operations for the ECEC, ensuring that all children receive nutritious meals and snacks on a daily schedule. This role supports the center's overall mission by maintaining high standards of health, safety, and sanitation while collaborating seamlessly with teaching staff to foster a nurturing environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Daily Meal Service Operations: Prepare, portion, pack, and organize breakfast, lunch, and snacks for timely delivery to all center classrooms according to the established daily schedule.
  • Health, Safety, and Sanitation: Maintain the kitchen, pantry, and storage areas in accordance with university, local, and state health department regulations; execute daily dishwashing, sanitizing, and deep-cleaning schedules.
  • Staff Collaboration: Coordinate closely with classroom teachers to ensure seamless meal delivery and manage dietary preferences or allergy documentation.
  • Inventory and Supply Management: Monitor food and kitchen supply inventory; assist leadership in tracking stock, cross-checking deliveries, and maintaining organized storage areas to minimize waste.
  • Professional Conduct: Maintain a warm, friendly, and respectful presence around young children, families, and university staff while adhering to all institutional compliance standards.

  • Collaboration & Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse teaching teams and center leadership.
  • Professionalism & Warmth: A positive, reliable demeanor that contributes to a welcoming environment for young children while maintaining professional boundaries and workplace standards.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, lift up to 30-40lbs, and perform repetitive kitchen tasks

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous experience in a kitchen or food service operation
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations
  • Experience or comfort working in environments serving young children
