About the Department/School/Area
The teacher education department in the College of Education has an innovative teacher preparation program that meets the unique needs of all our students. In collaboration with school districts and community college partners across Texas, TechTeach, our clinically intensive, competency-based program, is preparing educators who are ready to impact students on their first day in the classroom.
Major/Essential Functions
At Texas Tech University, the Lecturer title designates a full-time, non-tenure-acquiring role with primary duties in teaching organized classes and/or instructional labs. In line with TTU's strategic priorities to engage and empower a dynamic student body, applicants should have experience working with multi-faceted student populations at the undergraduate level.
As a faculty member in the Teacher Education Department, you will be expected to:
Teach four courses per semester based at the Lubbock campus or local school sites, or in an online delivery format. Course assignment may include face-to-face or online delivery, curriculum support, and participation in professional development and program-level review activities.

Faculty Qualifications
- A master's degree (minimum) in an education-related field
- A current Texas teacher certification
- At least 3 years of language literacy teaching experience as IOR at the elementary or middle level in the U.S. public school settings
- Exhibit dispositions for technology use, professional collaboration, and school-based initiatives
Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the required qualifications, individuals with the following preferred qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply:
- A master's degree (minimum in a literacy-related field)
- Instructional-support (coaching) experience at the campus, district, or IHE level
- A commitment to continued professional development and community service
- Strong and positive communication skills in professional settings
