Position Description
Performs highly responsible personal, educational or other counseling and/or training to individuals or groups. Responsibilities involve the provision of counseling services to individuals and groups in order that these individuals might achieve more effective personal, social, educational, and/or vocational development. May supervise other counselors.

About the Department and/or College


Major/Essential Functions
  • Clinical Services to Students: Conduct initial assessments (triages) during Walk-In Clinic hours (and during other hours, as needed) in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Outreach Programming to Campus Community: Actively participate in a minimum of two departmental outreach efforts per year, including fostering effective working relationships with campus liaisons and providing consultation services to university faculty and staff.
  • Clinical Services to Students: Provide individual, group, and couples therapy to Texas Tech students in an ethical and effective manner. Caseload will be in line with accreditation standards of no more than 65% clinical hours in a 40 hour work week.
  • Other Clinical Responsibilities: Complete all clinical documentation in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with deadlines specified in the departmental policies & procedures manual.
  • Clinical Supervision of Trainees: Provide clinical supervision and other training-related activities to doctoral interns and graduate practicum students.
  • Other Departmental Responsibilities: Actively participate in other departmental activities including, but not limited to, staff meetings, other departmental committees, and position search committees.
  • Clinical Services to Students: Provide crisis intervention services to students (may include after-hours
  • intervention).
  • Participate in after-hour crisis on-call rotation.


Required Qualifications
Master's degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology; license-eligible in the state of Texas upon conferral of doctoral degree; completion of an APA-accredited psychology doctoral internship by first day of work; at least 350 hours of clinical experience working with college student or young adult population (age 18-30); advanced knowledge of the application and evaluation of counseling techniques; and ability to conceptualize within one or more theoretical orientations (e.g. Psychodynamic, CBT, Humanistic) and develop treatment plans consistent with their theoretical orientation. Remote work is permitted between 8 and 16 hours per week within the city of Lubbock, Texas. Passing a background check is a condition of employment in this position.
