This position is FLSA Exempt and may not accrue overtime. A temporary probationary period will be applied to the employee entering this assignment. The Position:
Applications are currently being accepted for the Associate Vice Chancellor, Safety, Construction, and Facilities, located in Mission Valley. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. Selected candidates must be willing to adjust workdays/hours based on the departments needs.
Under the guidance of the Executive Operations Officer, the Associate Vice Chancellor provides strategic leadership for the Districts Safety, Construction, and Facilities functions, supporting the San Diego Community College Districts commitment to maintaining safe, efficient, and high-quality environments for students, faculty, and staff. This position oversees districtwide facilities services, capital improvement and construction programs, maintenance and operations, safety programs, and supports enterprise services that enhance the daily operations of the District and its colleges. The Associate Vice Chancellor collaborates with campus leadership, district departments, and external agencies to plan, develop, and maintain facilities and operational services that align with institutional priorities and regulatory requirements.
The Associate Vice Chancellor is responsible for guiding major construction and renovation projects, ensuring effective facilities maintenance and operations, administering safety programs, and supporting enterprise services that enhance the overall campus environment. This role provides collaborative and inclusive leadership, promotes innovation and continuous improvement, and ensures that district operations support the San Diego Community College Districts educational mission, long-term sustainability, and strategic goals.

Desired Qualifications:
A bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a related field to construction management, facilities services, risk management, or similar, and ten (10) years of increasingly responsible experience in construction management, facilities planning and management, or a related field, preferably in the California public education sector; and six to eight years progressively responsible and varied experience in a field associated with or utilizing risk management, preferably employee insurance programs.
Foreign Degree:
Applicants with foreign degrees from colleges or universities outside of the United States must have their coursework evaluated by a professional association that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or Academic Credentials Evaluation Institute, INC.(ACEI). A copy of the evaluation must be submitted with your online application.

SELECTED CANDIDATE IS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT:
- Submit "official" college transcripts as stated on application (even if a degree is not a requirement for this position);
- Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam for initial appointment (Note: The certificate must be renewed every 4 years as a condition of continuing employment);
- Have fingerprints taken by a Live Scan computer at the Districts expense (Clearance must be received prior to first day of employment);
- Present original documents for proof of eligibility to work in the United States as required by the I9 Employment Eligibility Verification form;
- Attend a new hire processing appointment in People, Culture, and Technology Services located at the District Administrative Offices; AND,
- Employed on an initial contract of two (2) year that is eligible for renewal annually for up to a subsequent two-year period.
EMPLOYMENT AFTER RETIREMENT
If you accept a contract (permanent) position with SDCCD and are a retired annuitant with CalPERS or CalSTRS, you must reinstate from your retirement system. Please reference the CalPERS or CalSTRS website for further information.
