Job Summary


The CU Science Discovery team at the University of Colorado, Boulder is seeking applicants for a Teaching Assistant! This position will work directly with our K-12 students in the classroom assisting in hands-on facilitation, classroom management, and STEM instruction (camps and classes are taught by STEM Instructors, typically STEM graduate students or experienced teachers). TA's should be ready to share their enthusiasm for STEM topics and help participants engage with the content.

Who We Are


CU Science Discovery is a STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education outreach organization in the Division of Continuing Education at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Science Discovery collaborates with CU faculty, research groups, institutes, and graduate and undergraduate students to develop and deliver hands-on, inquiry-based programs for K-12 students and teachers that feature CU STEM research and model standard methodologies in teaching and learning.


What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Assist STEM Instructors in facilitating hands-on activities and classroom management during K-12 summer camps and high school classes.
  • Supervise and ensure the safety of campers during all camp activities and transitions.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for campers to explore STEM concepts.
  • Provide guidance and support to campers as they engage in hands-on experiments and projects.
  • Assist in the setup, organization, and cleanup of camp materials and equipment.
  • Serve as a positive role model for campers, promoting curiosity, creativity, and teamwork.
  • Communicate effectively with campers, parents, leadership team, and classroom instructor.
  • Address any behavioral or disciplinary issues according to camp policies and procedures.
  • Uphold and enforce camp rules and safety guidelines to ensure a positive and enriching experience for all.
  • Supervise check-in & check-out for campers, insuring they go home with the correct guardians.

There is a mandatory (paid) training that will be provided after hire.


What We Can Offer


The hourly rate for this position is $18.90/hour.

Temporary positions at the University of Colorado are not benefits-eligible, however, all positions are eligible for paid sick leave.
