Job Summary

Applications are invited to fill a Temporary Researcher position to assist in modeling photopolymerization kinetics, working with visible-light holographic photopolymer systems, and developing simulations of multifunctional polymerizations. This project is led by Distinguished Professor Christopher Bowman in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder.
CU is an Equal Opportunity Employer and complies with all applicable federal, state, and local laws governing nondiscrimination in employment. We are committed to creating a workplace where all individuals are treated with respect and dignity, and we encourage individuals from all backgrounds to apply, including protected veterans and individuals with disabilities.

Who We Are

The Bowman Research Group is based at the University of Colorado at Boulder and directed by Christopher N. Bowman, James and Catherine Patten Professor at the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering. Our general research thrust is the investigation of the formation, structure and properties of crosslinked polymeric materials, particularly those formed from photopolymerization reactions. Specifically, our group is focusing on developing new materials and photopolymerization mechanisms for a variety of applications including:
  • Sequence-Controlled Polymerization of "Click" Nucleic Acids (CNAs)
  • "Click" Reactions for Polymer Networks
  • Covalent Adaptable Polymer Networks
  • Novel Dental Materials
  • Photoinduced Synthetic Vesicles for Artificial Cells

These interests are investigated by incorporating a mixture of polymerization reaction engineering, monomer and polymer synthesis, and experimental characterization.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Performing research/scholarship under direct mentorship
  • Drafting and submitting publications of research/scholarship
  • Attending responsible conduct of research training
  • Attending professional skills training workshops
