Position Description
Directs, plans, coordinates and supervises the operations and activities of a specialized unit or small department; develops and implements policies and procedures, administers the budget, organizes tasks and sets priorities. Serves as liaison with university personnel and community at large. Works under general supervision with broad latitude for initiative and independent judgement.

About the Department and/or College


Major/Essential Functions
Management & Oversight Responsibilities:
  • Ensure SBDC center & staff are meeting goals & objectives set by NWTSBDC, State of Texas, SBA program and Texas Tech University.
  • Provide input and support efforts to accomplish NWTSBDC SBDC Program's strategic plan and ensure implementation at the center level.
  • Evaluate & measure the effectiveness and impact of the center programs and services through metrics and surveys.
  • Ensure timely & accurate data input into the CRM system (Neoserra).
  • Supervisory maintenance of confidential client records and data.
  • Monitor expenditures and ensure adherence to approved budgets.
  • Responsible for HR functions including recruitment of any vacant positions, evaluate & provide effective feedback of employees.
  • Promote staff development by utilizing continuing education opportunities to enhance professional development and staff skills.
  • (Develop and provide specific information, reports and/or special services as requested or required by the SBA and the Northwest Texas State Office.

Consultant & Training Responsibilities:
  • Provide & facilitate in-depth confidential business analyses & training to entrepreneurs
  • Promote & comply with require professional development
  • Recruit government, private and public entities, as well as businesses and businesspersons to provide voluntary/free consulting services and/or training.
  • Develop a resource network to achieve program objectives.
Marketing & Outreach Responsibilities:
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders/strategic partners including, but not limited to, SBA, banks, chambers of commerce, economic development organizations, trade groups, educational institutions, legislators, and hosts.
  • Develop appropriate advertising, promotion, and marketing materials by promote SBDC services through various media avenues including public speaking events, local media, local community leaders, social media channels, center website, or other marketing tools.
  • Attend various regional and state meetings and conferences as required.


Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related area required plus five years progressively responsible management experience. Additional education may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business.
  • Master's degree in business or a related field from a four-year university.
  • More than five years of responsible management work experience.
  • Supervisory experience.


Pay Range
$71,800 - $93,300 - $114,900
