Human Resources Assistant

About the Opportunity

The Human Resources Assistant completes HR transactions and provides HR operations and business process support across all the division's human resources activities, including position management, recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, and compliance. The HR Assistant interacts with the division's faculty and staff, answering inquiries and directing them to resources.

This is a fixed-term, benefits eligible role expected to run through March 1, 2027 but may be extended depending on business needs. This role will be hybrid with regular on-site days at Marymount Manhattan College expected.

Responsibilities:

1) New Hire Support: Acting as the primary point of contact when onboarding new hires, including new hire communications and I-9s; Serving as a knowledgeable resource for hiring managers, guiding them through divisional hiring and onboarding practices

2) Customer Service: Providing excellent customer service by responding to inquiries from staff and managers as appropriate, directing employees to the appropriate HR Business Partner or university HR contact as needed

3) Transactional Support: Offboarding transactions and communications: Executing transactions in Workday

4) Records/Reporting: Maintaining personnel files and records. Assisting with keeping unit staffing budgets up to date. Retrieving, organizing, and compiling data as requested; routinely auditing data for accuracy; running reports as needed

5) Other: Assisting with administrative tasks as needed. Providing event and logistical support with training and engagement activities.

Qualifications:
  • Effective written, verbal and interpersonal skills, particularly listening.
  • Effective organization, planning and time management to follow through on committments
  • Critical thinking: ability to use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of approaches to problems
  • Ability to perform business transactions with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to develop and maintain workplace relationships built on collaboration, integrity and discretion
  • Collaboration & service orientation: ability and willingness to look for ways to help people.
  • Previous experience with ADP systems and Workday is strongly preferred.
  • Bachelors degree and 1-2 years experience within HR is strongly preferred.

Expected Hiring Range:
$25.71 - $35.35
