Location
Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.
Job Summary
Responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and managing all aspects of facility scheduling and space utilization for both internal and external requests across the recreation centers within Sports and Recreation's scope. Works closely with potential users to assess program and space requirements, guiding the planning process to ensure successful event execution. Manages, trains, and mentors assigned direct reports and student staff to assist in managing the facilities on the campuses.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Coordinates event setup with campus partners and provides on-site support for major events
2. Recruits, trains, supervises, and evaluates student staff and the facilities coordinator to uphold service standards
3. Oversees the coordination of facility scheduling and space utilization
4. Meets with potential users to identify program and space needs, and prepares a bid for the use of the facility
5. Formulates a plan to execute events to include set up, staffing, participant, and spectator management, associated equipment, and take down
6. Engages with outside organizations to generate revenue through special events
7. Ensures facilities are operated according to departmental and university standards
8. Tracks and reports facility usage, access, equipment inventory, and operational issues
9. Oversees, reconciles, and approves spending in assigned areas to ensure compliance with state, federal, BOR, and university accounting policies
10. Conducts assessments and benchmarking to evaluate current facility conditions and anticipate future needs for facilities and special events
11. Ensures facility hours, holiday closures, and schedule updates are communicated and posted
12. Provides tours for guests and members, utilizing student employees as part of the process
13. Acts as a liaison to the KSU community and the public by conducting tours, resolving facility issues, responding to inquiries, and delivering excellent customer service
14. Reviews conduct cases involving policy violations at all recreational centers, collaborating with Student Conduct, Public Safety, and other departments to address incidents
15. Participates in the Safety and Risk Management Committee, helping develop and evaluate risk management procedures and facility safety plans
16. Reviews incidents to ensure students and staff are properly trained on safety policies and proactively addresses potential safety concerns
17. Assists in providing CPR/AED and First Aid training for student employees
18. Provides support for other divisional priorities and initiatives beyond the department's scope, as requested
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience
Other Required Qualifications
CPR/AED/First Aid Certifications must be obtained within six (6) months
Current, valid, and unrestricted driver's license
Required Experience
Seven (7) years of experience, preferably in a recreation setting
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications
An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field
Preferred Experience
Familiarity with using recreation management and event management software
Practical knowledge of risk management practices and event management
Two (2) years of supervisory experience

Able to apply software to communicate event specifics to involved constituents for scheduling, staffing, equipment, and diagrams
Able to collaborate with leadership to develop the facility operations department strategy
Able to manage and complete multiple tasks and projects by established deadlines
Able to explain the rationale behind guidelines, policies, and procedures
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of existing standards and best practices in collegiate recreation, such as CAS standards for Recreational Sports Programs and duty of care for areas of responsibility
Knowledge of current products and technology for facility operations and for executing events
Demonstrate a strong commitment to teamwork, customer service, ethical leadership, and talent development for direct reports
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal communication, customer service, active listening, initiative, teamwork, attention to detail, problem-solving, independent judgment, technology, communication (verbal and written), follow-up, time management, project management, and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite, WhenToWork, EMS, Fusion, etc.).
Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
